Equally at home in symphonic and operatic repertoire, recent and upcoming highlights include appearances in Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium and the Czech Republic with orchestras such as the MDR-Sinfonieorchester, Orchestre National de Lille, Nord Nederland Orkest, Jenaer Philharmonie and the Hradec Králové Philharmonic. Van Rechem has also taken part in opera productions at the Opéra de Nantes, Opéra de Rouen Normandie, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen and the Deutsches National Theater Weimar.
Passionate about contemporary music, van Rechem has founded his own ensemble Les Parnassiens, which specialises in early twentieth-century repertoire for chamber orchestra. He was also selected as part of the Lucerne Festival's Conducting Fellowship in 2021, working with composers such as Wolfgang Rihm, Dieter Ammann and Enno Poppe, and conducting a number of premieres. As an assistant conductor he has worked with Antony Hermus, Karel Deseure, Nicolas Pasquet and Ariane Matiakh, and has conducted youth orchestras such as the Orchestre Français des Jeunes, the Bundesjugendorchester, the Landesjugendsinfonieorchester Hessen and the Hanze Symphony Orchestra. In 2024, Van Rechem was shortlisted in the conductor category for the 31èmes Victoires de la Musique Classique alongside Marie Jacquot and Léo Margue.
Van Rechem studied percussion at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, and has played with ensembles including the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, and the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Limoges. Originally from Lille, van Rechem studied orchestral conducting with Jean-Sébastien Béreau, and at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Antony Hermus, Karel Deseure, and Ed Spanjaard. He is currently studying for a master's degree with Nicolás Pasquet and Ekhart Wycik at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar.
