Sugár began his conducting studies at the age of 15 and soon attended masterclasses with Jorma Panula. He has been mentored by Kees Bakels since 2023 and has been studying conducting with Andrés Orozco-Estrada at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna since 2024. He has gained valuable experience as an assistant to Orozco-Estrada, Petr Popelka, and Martin Rajna, with ensembles such as the Budapest Festival Orchestra, Münchner Philharmoniker, Wiener Symphoniker, as well as assisting in productions at the Hungarian State Opera, including The Flying Dutchman and Macbeth.
Born in Kuala Lumpur into a Hungarian family of musicians, Sugár grew up in Vienna, where he began his musical training on piano and cello before focusing on piano. He has studied piano with Christoph Traxler at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna since 2019, and has since performed as pianist in the Goldener Saal, Brahms-Saal, and Bösendorfer-Saal at the Wiener Musikverein, at the Wiener Konzerthaus, at the MuTh, and at the Solti Hall of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest.
